Blessings Names

BLESSINGS: For any occasion when you want to send your prayers and encouragement.

NAME PRAYERS: Designs celebrating given names - for baptism, confirmation or just for a blessing.

Originally scribed for a young man and his family who clung to the support of faith to sustain them through a really difficult experience.  It also happens to be a favourite psalm of mine, and immediately sprung to mind when I heard of the young man's circumstances.  Prayers for all who depend on their faith to get them through. +

380: My soul clings to you, O God

This exquisite little design was commissioned as a Christmas gift, framed and delivered in a gilt frame.  The ornate initials in the original were finished with gold calligraphers ink - available for an extra cost of £4 per A6 card, £5 per A5 card.  Please let me know in the message section of the order page.

433: I lack nothing

To celebrate the miracle of a new life.  The quirky little drawings were amongst the early gifts which I received from my first Goddaughter.  The card was originally designed to celebrate her Confirmation!

Ideal for any seeker after the way of truth; for those preparing for commitment, for those in search of meaning, or for those embarking on a new way of life.

405: Teach me Lord.  Psalm 119

I discovered this prayer in the tiny gift shop of a Carmelite Monastery.  Apparently it was written by a young novice who was finding the going tough!  I hope it makes you feel less alone.

410: Meeting Place

This thoughtful meditation was scribed, with permission, from the work of The Prayer Trust.  The original bookmark was sent to me as a gift from a friend who works amongst the poorest of the UK, serving at soup kitchens and night shelters.  It arrived with a request for prayers for all those she serves.  I hope you will join with me in praying for them, and for all who serve them.

This design was inspired by the collage work of lettering artist Mick Paine .  Mick led a calligraphy master class at The Collection in Lincoln during the summer of 2009 which took as its starting point the TENNYSON TRANSFORMED exhibition - a collection of works brought together to celebrate the bicentenary of the birth of Alfred Lord Tennyson.  The image on the card was constructed in response to the 1911 film Enoch Arden by D W Griffiths (which tells the story of Tennyson’s poem of the same name).   The film is a piece of its time - a dark post-Victorian tragedy, made comic to our eyes by the oppressive and overwrought acting and filming techniques of the early twentieth century. It is also a reflection on the Word of God amongst us.  GOD IS IN THE BEGINNING GOD SPOKE THE WORD IS

Just beautiful calligraphy, hand finished on a silky smooth heavyweight white card (300gsm). With luxury wove white envelope (120gsm) to complement the card.
